STATEMENT
As a New York-based artist, I find deep inspiration in the relationship between sculptural form and vibrant color, crafting a visual language that invites viewers into an active and layered experience. My practice centers around the construction of dimensional works by weaving strips of paint and glue onto wood panels—a process that merges precision, materiality, and play.
At the heart of my work is the creation of the paint strips themselves. I begin by layering paint and glue into a dense, cake-like surface, which I then slice into thin, uniform bands. These hand-cut strips serve as both the structure and surface of my compositions, transforming everyday materials into tactile, multi-dimensional forms.
The act of weaving is both technical and conceptual. It allows me to explore ideas of construction, memory, and perception through repetition and rhythm. By threading these painted elements together, I create pieces that reference the familiar while existing in an abstract, emotionally resonant space.
Color plays an essential role in my practice. Each hue is selected with intention, used not only for visual impact but for its ability to evoke feeling and spark connection. The interplay of bold tones and quiet spaces generates a dialogue between viewer and artwork—one that is shaped as much by personal association as by visual effect.
Texture, pattern, and depth emerge through careful arrangement and craftsmanship. The woven surface becomes a site of tension and harmony, where light shifts across layered paint and shadow pools in the recesses. This balance between structure and spontaneity guides my process, inviting reflection and discovery.
Ultimately, my work aims to create an immersive experience—one that invites viewers to pause, look closely, and engage with the tactile and emotional potential of color, form, and material. In this exchange, the work finds meaning beyond the studio, as a space for connection, contemplation, and creative interpretation.
